Yaletown Wedding: Anna & George September 21, 2013
On the morning of Spetember 1, we arrived at George’s parents’ house to be greeted by his sister and a very friendly, big, hairy dog. After taking some getting ready photos of George and watching as he opened a letter from his mother, he handed Marshal a note to pass on to Anna and we headed for her house. All the women were getting their hair and makeup done as we arrived. I headed upstairs where the dress and all the details were laid out and was wowed when I walked into the room. It was clear this was going to a spectacular wedding. Everything from Anna’s dress and the flower girls’ dresses to the earrings, bracelet, necklace, and shoes that were all placed throughout the living room. I love photographing details so I was excited…there was so many! Anna got into her dress and she looked absolutely stunning! She sat down to read George’s note and then everyone headed over to the cathedral.
The ceremony was a traditional Greek Orthodox wedding held at St. George’s Greek Orthodox cathedral. After the ceremony was over, we headed to the park across the street to take some family photos. Thanks to those few days of torrential rain leading up to the wedding day, the park was a little more green than when Marshal and I had originally scouted it out a few weeks prior. The next stop was Yaletown. Before taking off with Anna and George for their portraits, we all went to the reception venue so they could take a look at the decorations before everyone got there and that way Marshal and I had a few minutes to document all the details. At one of our previous consultations with them before the day of the wedding, Anna mentioned those shots were important and from what she said, I was expecting something amazing. I wasn’t expecting what I saw. What I saw was beyond amazing. Every little detail was accounted for: strings of pearls draped over bouquets of white flowers, silvery branches dripping with crystals, pearls, and candles, individual packages of chocolate, little vintage golden keys fastened to each name card…that only begins to describe it. Everything looked beautiful with the warm brick walls setting the scene in the V lounge above Earls. After that, we took Anna and George out for their photo session in Yaletown. There wasn’t anything they weren’t up for trying and were incredibly photogenic, which made our job that much easier! They were a lot of fun and rocked it! We headed back to the V Lounge for the reception and the night ensued with lots of laughter, sweet words, great food, drinks, and dancing into the night.
It was a pleasure photographing such a great wedding with such a fun couple.
Thank you George and Anna for letting us be a part of your special day and wish you to the best for years to come!
