North Van Wedding: Steve & Jacquelyn

After going to school for photography with Jacquelyn’s sister, Danielle, who has become a dear friend, it was an honor to be asked to photograph Steve and Jacquelyn’s wedding and document such an important occasion.

Since the heavens let loose the weekend prior to the wedding, we were all praying the sun would show it’s face the following weekend, and thankfully it did. The weather pulled through and was beautiful! We showed up to the hotel and everyone seemed quite calm, which always makes my job easier!  Although the schedule was a bit behind at first (like pretty much every wedding is), we sped through the family photos like nobody’s business and got right back on track. After a beautiful ceremony, speeches and delicious food followed.  Something that Steve and Jacquelyn did that really impressed me, was they made sure everyone ate before they did. They waited while everyone else got their food and started eating. I thought that was a beautiful gesture and showed a glimpse of the type of people they are. Dinner turned into dessert, and great music brought about lively dancing as the night carried on. After we put down our cameras, we were invited onto the dance floor to join in on the celebrations. I felt so welcomed into this fun, beautiful family. From the short amount of time I spent with the couple, I can honestly say that Steve and Jacquelyn are absolutely wonderful people, who are so great together, and I feel lucky to have captured this special day for them.

Ajay & Lindsay Engagement

I’ve known Ajay for awhile, Lindsay not so long, but what I definitely know is that these two are perfect for each other!  Not only do they both have beautiful voices and sound amazing singing together, but they are good together in every other way.  God is the center of their relationship, and they both have a deep, genuine love and respect for each other that shines brightly. You can see it in the way they look at each other, and talk to each other.  Always joking and laughing, these two were a lot of fun to photograph! Here’s a few…

Phil & Wanyee Engagement

Well after being postponed at least 3 times (mostly because of the weather), we finally had a sunny day that we were all free for this engagement session! It was a cold, but beautiful sunny morning and the fall colours were just starting to appear. We met early to catch the first rays at Olympic Village and thank goodness we started at the time we did because it was quiet and we were some of the few people there, but by the time we were finishing up it was flooded with people, out enjoying the sun while it lasted. Overall, it was a great shoot and the perfect day for it!

Brandi & Warren: Gastown Wedding

I met Brandi a few years ago while I was working at Home Outfitters as I completed my diploma in photography. It was so exciting to see her marrying such a great guy and it was an honor to photograph her wedding.

We arrived at Steamworks in Gastown early in the afternoon to set up and photograph Warren and his groomsmen while they awaited the arrival of Brandi and her bridesmaids. The guests filtered in and seated themselves in The Landing, an atrium with a beautiful floor to ceiling window at the front. As everyone took their places, I got to see a few other guests who I had also worked with and hadn’t seen in awhile, so that was a nice surprise! The ceremony commenced and it was so sweet to see tears in Warren’s eyes as he saw his beautiful bride walk down the aisle.  It was beautiful how obviously in love they were.  After they said their ‘I do’s’ and greeted guests, we went with the whole bridal party to take photos. We first headed to Coal Harbour via the best transportation ever, a trolly car, and then made our way to a few stops around Gastown. After the photo session, we headed back to Steamworks for the rest of the celebrations. The night continued with delicious food, touching speeches, gifts (a custom made Strongbow baby bottle for the future), slideshow, cake, and dancing. The cake was so good that Brandi snuck away with one of the layers after tasting it 🙂

All in all, a fantastic wedding. Congratulations you two and we wish you all the best!

Brandi hid the garter in a non traditional place and didn’t tell Warren until he had spent a few minutes looking for it 😉 Sneaky, sneaky!
